Yin Yoga Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your
fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. Yin yoga is a very gentle yoga
practice and a great way to release tension and relieve stress. We move
slowly and mindful throughout the yoga practice, paying special
attention to the breath, giving you space to turn inward and tune into
both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.
There is (almost) no muscular engagement throughout the whole practice.
Only if the muscles are relaxed, it is possible to target the connective
tissue. The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese
philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of
Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening
into poses, we're opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to
flow freely. A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held,
passive floor poses held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Easy
to perform, suitable for everyone.
